Berkshire Tri Squad is blessed with multiple members who have various coaching qualifications. Read below about he various people you might meet during an session of swimming, biking or running.
Spinning Coach and Level 1 Triathlon Coach
Julia has been a BTS member for since 1998 and over that time has competed in World Championships at every distance of triathlon and at duathlon.
Julia is a regular spinning and swim coach and often leads the club’s Saturday “B” ride. She particularly enjoys taking the group out on new routes to interesting places.
Spinning Coach
Lynda has been a member of BTS for two years after moving to the UK from the United States. She’s relatively new to the sport having been talked into it after running and cycling with other members of the club.
Lynda can usually be found inspiring people in the spin studio or training for longer distance events. For the less important matters, she leaves those to her running buddy, Tucker, to take care of
Level 2 Triathlon coach & Level 2 Swimming Teacher
Christina has been a BTS member since 2003. Uncooperative knees mean that Sprint Distance is her chosen event where she has won both ITU and BTF Age Group Championship medals.
As lead BTS swim Coach Christina is usually to be found on the poolside either as a session coach or working with individual members on a 1:1 basis.
BTF level 1 coach, qualified Spin instructor and UK Athletic coaching qualifications
Paul has been a member since 2007. He organises and leads running training sessions on Monday evenings, assists at the swimming training sessions and is part of the team that leads the indoor group cycling. Paul is often found running around local woods
BTF level 1 coach
Chris has been a member since 2005, joining when he had no experience of Triathlon or racing at any level. Motivated more by enthusiasm than ability, Chris has challenged himself with sprint Triathlons through to Half Ironman events. He is part of the spinning coaches team and after passing his BTF Level 1 now helps with sessions at the pool.
BTF level 1 coach, Level 3 Pilates teacher and personal trainer
Barbara has been a member since 2007 and is on the team that leads Spin and assists at the swim sessions. She also provides a triathlon centered Pilates session and takes 1 to 1 sessions for personal training and advice on recovery, development and rehabilitation. Barbara promoted herself this year to the club's Saturday B ride.
Level 1 Triathlon Coach
Janice has been a member of BTS since 2006 and races in mainly Sprint events and Team Events. She is part of the Swim Coaching Team as a Lead Coach, as this is her background having swum competitively for many years up to National Level.
Phillipa has been a member of BTS since 2006 when she decided to do her first long distance triathlon. Since then she has participated in many triathlons, adventure races and cycling events. Her first love is definitely swimming, and so completed her ASA Level 1 Teaching Aquatics in 2010. When not swimming, Phillipa is a keen mountain biker, and so tries to compete in off road triathlons events wherever possible.
