Training Sessions

Monday Evening BTS Coached Running Training

7pm at a variety of venues around Windsor to suit the type of session for that evening. The programme is phased to compliment the training and competition calendar. Hill and stamina sessions in the winter with more emphasis on speed work and maintenance in the spring and summer.

The sessions are prepared to allow participation by all abilities and to keep the group together for the session, making them suitable for use as recovery sessions after weekend races of any kind.

Tuesday Evening Track Sessions

On Tuesday evenings, in association with Maidenhead Athletic Club, we have a coached track session at Maidenhead track, at 6.30pm. These sessions, which are coached by fully qualified Maidenhead Athletic Club coaches, are designed to help you improve your speed, stamina and recovery pace.

Be prepared to be run ragged and watch your 'minute mile' time drop!

Wednesday Evening Spinning

Using our club owned spinning bikes and home grown instructors we run two sessions on a wednesday night. These are booked in advance through the club egroup. These sessions are based around intervals of high and low intensity and set to music. When the evenings become light enough we run brick (bike- run interval training) session instead in preparation for the Wednesday night cycle rides. Directions

Wednesday Evening Bike Rides

In the summer months we meet at Barry Avenue. This ride usually splits into 2-3 groups of similar abilities and involves sessions such as interval repeats, hill climbing or small time trials. The more social of the group can usually be found in a nearby pub shortly afterwards - apparently refueling and re-hydrating.

Each week the rides are confirmed using the club e group / forum. In a similar way to the Saturday rides you are expected to be of a reasonable fitness level / cycle skill level before riding with one of the groups. If in doubt check with the chairman or one of the coaches.

Thursday Evening Swimming

We have a swimming session at Heathfield Pool,

Ascot, 2 sessions between 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

These are BTA certified level 3 coached sessions for

all abilities of swimmer. The sessions are based around

improving swim stroke / swim technique by introducing

various drills along with advice from coaches, to

develop faster and more efficient swimming. Our annual

training programme is designed to be phrased

throughout the year. More detail is available in the

document attached

BTS Swim Programme (MS Word Document)

Please Note: It is a condition of attending the coached swim sessions that attendees must be able to swim a distance of 100 metres continuously. Those that are unsure or think they might need swim tuition to be able to do so, should contact the club to arrange a review. We can offer private swimming lessons if required.

(Directions to Heathfield School)

Saturday Morning Bike Rides

We generally have at least 2-3 bike rides on a Saturday morning leaving from Barry Ave, Windsor (lay by close to River Thames). The 3 rides are normally upto 3 hrs at differing average speeds and covering from 35 - 60 miles dependant on attendees. All rides usually meet for coffee, gossip and cake at a Windsor cafe. If you are new to cycling we also offer an “Introduction to cycling” session which is run on request by members. It is run by one of our accomplished riders on an informal Q&A basis.

Each week the rides are confirmed using the club e group / forum. Please e-mail or call someone from the contacts page to find out which rides are scheduled and suits you before turning up to these rides so as not to embarrass other riders by being too quick or slowing your fellow members down on their weekly endurance training session. Although the groups will not intentionally drop riders you are expected to be of a reasonable fitness level / cycle skill level before riding with one of the groups. If in doubt ask the chairman or the “introduction to cycling” coach which ride you are suited to.
